Disappointed that Gaby’s Deli, one of the few remaining ‘Jewish Delis’ (cafés) in central London is soon to close? Well it’s true to say that as one door closes, another opens. The Deli West One is more of a sandwich bar than Gaby’s, and has a very limited range of Ashkenazi (East European Jewish) dishes. It’s also properly kosher, which means it’s not cheap. But for a good salt beef or pastrami sandwich, a bowl of chicken soup and a beef hot dog, this is a good place for a nosh-up.
