To mark today’s Remembrance Day, artist Ted Harrison has created an installation inside St Paul’s Cathedral. Remembering the children involved in WW1, Ted has placed over 5,000 poppies in a 30ft circle beneath the dome. Passers by on ground level will see what appears to be a random smattering of petals, but take a trip up to the Whispering Gallery for the full poignant aerial effect.
Outside the Cathedral, the Occupy London camp is still going strong. Protestors ensured that they would not obstruct the remembrance events and a two minutes silence was observed this morning at 11am. Alongside St Paul’s activities, Occupy London will also be organising events across the weekend, including music, talks and films.
