Once upon a time in a borough far far away, there lived an elephant in a castle, or was it a bloke in a multiplex high rise – I forget. Anyway, join Nigel of Bermondsey and Vanessa Woolf on March 3 as they take to the roof of the Brandon Estate, a derelict wonderland near Elephant and Castle to tell dark magical stories and sing songs from the afterlife. This storytelling event costs £2 and attendees are asked to wrap up warm, bring a candle and maybe even a flask.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it because a fortnight later Vanessa returns to Elephant & Castle with a new version of ‘The Odyssey’ as part of a walk under, over and beyond the roundabout inspired by Eva Sajovic and Sarah Butler’s residency in Southwark’s Cuming Museum. The theme is ‘Going Home’ and the artists are keen for you to bring your longings, dreams and themes, but depending on how long they’re planning on staying in the underpass, we might suggest a nose peg too.
