#Frending2012: the face-to-face revolution

Posted at 1:30 pm, May 25, 2012 in Fun London

Today is World Frending Day. Now, don’t get me wrong, I hate all that free hugs nonsense and faux interaction with strangers. I am so used to anonymous London life that when someone smiles at me on a country walk, I think they might be an axe wielding maniac. However, I don’t think this is a good way to be and so I am pleased to hear that the brave Frending adventurers are venturing out today to chat to strangers, meet new folks and try to engage with people  face-to-face. Their rules are simple: find, respect, engage, network and distribute. Although this may seem pretty forced, the idea of looking up as you power along the street and making contact with people around you is actually really nice. The Frendsters are lucky that the weather is nice as I am sure people will be much more sunny mood. So if you are approached by a stranger today who wants to chat, give them a chance. Or you could even be brave and start a conversation. You never know, you might even make a new friend. Sonya Barber
