So, it’s officially over, and didn’t we do well? The London 2012 Games went off with merely the squeak of a hitch (those empty seats will soon be forgotten) and we couldn’t have asked for more from our athletes. Today, Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis and 700 other British athletes and those legendary Games Makers will be hitting the streets of London to celebrate.
The parade will start at Mansion House at 1.30pm and make its way to Trafalgar Square at 2.30pm, where the public section of the parade will end – it then carries on (for invited guests only) to Queen Victoria Memorial by Buckingham Palace at 3.30pm. There’ll be public viewing areas along the route but spectators are encouraged to arrive early to bag a spot due to limited capacity. If you don’t manage to stake a claim on a roadside pitch, there will be a giant screen showing proceedings in Trafalgar Square as well as full coverage on BBC1, Channel 4 and Sky.
