150 years ago today the world’s first underground train pulled out of Paddington station to make the first passenger journey – 3½-miles from Paddington to Farringdon. To mark the occasion, not only will we be bringing you lots of lovely blog posts about the tube today and tomorrow but those folks over at Google have also decided to mark the tube’s special day with a brilliant Google doodle based on Harry Beck’s tube map.

Check it out today at google.com.
