Mark Watson’s 25-hour Comedy Marathon for Comic Relief

When Richard Curtis and Lenny Henry founded the first Red Nose Day in 1988, they probably didn’t envision a fundraiser that involved Rufus Hound cracking eggs with a mallet strapped to his cock. But 25 years later, the ever disgruntled comic is wearing a cape, a crown and red leggings, ready to bring Bristolian madman Mark Watson’s 25-hour show for Comic Relief to a very messy end. Time Out’s Danielle Goldstein survived the whole day-and-a-bit-long show – which raised a total of £42,632 – and, of course, that’s only one of many peculiar accounts that took place over 25 hours.

Read her highlights, see pictures and watch a video of Hound’s infamous eggy cock-fest at timeout.com/comedyRed Nose Day takes place this Friday (March 15). To find out how you can get involved, see rednoseday.com.
