Expect a lot of bubbles around the Olympic Stadium in 2016

Well. It’s official. One of the Premier League’s middle-of-the-road teams will be moving into the UK’s flashiest sports stadium come 2016. After a tough, long battle with the London Legacy Development Corporation and a number of other London teams, West Ham have been named victor and its prize is a shiny new 54,000 seat stadium for 99 years. The team will move in after a renovation which will be funded by the LLDC, West Ham and Newham Council with the Government supplying up to £25 million in support. But don’t worry, our hard-earned cash won’t just be funding West Ham’s new home, it’ll also go towards their house guests with a whole host of international competitions planned to take place from 2015. With thousands of new jobs on the horizon and a healthy lift to Newham’s visitor foot traffic, it seems that it’s not just the team that’s getting a boost from this deal. Carly-Ann Clements
