Forget clucking spring chicks, bouncing bunny rabbits and fields of vivid tulips this Easter: for a most macabre March, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more grotesque exhibition than at Camden’s Cob Gallery.
Titled Creepshow features new mad stuff by London-based dark soul Nathan James, presented by award-winning culture journalist Justin Quirk. James’s work twists old-fashioned, painterly cartoons inspired by golden-era Hollywood with images of leading men and women in various gross-out mutations.
Think ‘Planet Terror’ meets ‘Gone With the Wind’ or, gorier still, ‘Brain Dead’ meets classic Hitchcock. There’s even an image of Maggie Thatcher and her ‘slowly rotting death mask’. Delightful. Kate Hutchinson
Creepshow is at The Cob Gallery, 205 Royal College St, NW1 0SG, from March 20-April 7.
