Do you know your treks from your wars? What about your Cylons from your Sontarans? Yes. Good. Then you are invited to take part in Sci-Fi London’s costume parade this Sunday (April 28). To launch the 12th annual Sci-Fi London, the international festival celebrating all of science fiction and fantasty film, anyone who just so happens to have a Captain Kirk costume in the back of their cupboard is encouraged, nay, obligated to don their superhero, villain, fantasy or any other genre-specific attire and join the ranks marching down the streets of Stratford to celebrate their favourite pop-culture genre.
This year’s parade takes on a ‘Doctor Who‘ theme, but don’t worry if your wardrobe is more spandex and capes than bow ties and tweed jackets; all characters and costumes are welcome. Participants and spectators can pitch up unannounced, but those who register their attendance online will receive one of a limited number of after-party wristbands giving access to a shindig with music, refreshments, games and a surprise guest. So whether you’re a whovian, trekkie, brony or just into steampunk, then head on down and party with the rest of the sci-fi universe. Carly-Ann Clements
