Pacific Rim

In an exclusive video, film director Guillermo del Toro (‘Hellboy’, ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’) talks us through the complex design process for the giant military robots – or Jaegers – that populate his upcoming summer blockbuster ‘Pacific Rim’, which opens in cinemas on July 12. Built to do battle with marauding monsters from the deep, the Jaegers are humanity’s last chance for survival. In the video, Del Toro explains how each of the Pacific superpowers has built their own Jaeger, and how the design process developed from sketches and models to the eye-popping end result. ‘Pacific Rim’ stars Hackney’s finest Idris Elba, up-and-comer Charlie Hunnam and Del Toro’s go-to guy, Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman.
