Book now for a very camp bank holiday weekend

Posted at 2:30 pm, August 22, 2013 in Arts & Entertainment, Fun London, Music & Nightlife

Do you want to break free from the shackles of the Monday blues? Freddie Mercury may have been a pretty big Queen back in the ’70s and ’80s but for today’s fabulous queer folk, it is all about having a gloriously camp Bank Holiday weekend. Get ready for our spectacularly flamboyant super Sunday and fun day Monday…

Sink the Pink

The Sink The Pink Bank Holiday Bender

Epic event organisers Sink The Pink invite you to attend a splendiferously gender bending Sunday night special. With a line-up including sell-out performer Holestar, former ‘Miss Sink The Pink’ Mr Teds Walker, soulful songster Mikey Woodbridge, and the delightful Dinah Lux, you’d be crazy-mad not to get tipsy and join in the naughtiness. Tranny goddess John Sizzle will be your glamourous host, while MEGA DJs and the ever vivacious MC Gaff E will spin a musical meltdown of misbehaviour into the night. Be prepared to doll up in fancy dress and undergo the infamous Sink The Pink signature makeover, ‘glitter my shitter’.

The Sink The Pink Bank Holiday Bender takes place on Sunday August 25 at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Pick up tickets or reserve a table here

The Gay Sports Day 2013

According to its organisers at GMFA and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, the Gay Sports Day is an event where men are made… and then turned into drag queens. For a drag relay race, obviously. Last year saw a stealthy army of young men raise the standard of the fifty metre mince, a bunch of fairies – well, blokes with wings and tutus – take up the space hopper challenge, and become testoste-rhinoceroses to take on toss the handbag. A day of tug-o-war, ballsy sac races and egg n’ spoon jobs like you’ve never seen them before. There will be a bar and BBQ to keep your strength up, and all profits raised will go towards the GMFA, a gay men’s health charity. The only question left unanswered is… are you man enough? Kitty Knowles

The Gay Sports Day will take place on August 26 (Bank Holiday Monday) at the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens from 2-6pm. To enter, all you need do is form a team of five members and register with GMFA by emailing matthew.hodson@gmfa.org.uk (each team is asked to raise £250 in online sponsorship).
