One of the largest modelling exhibitions in the UK is turning the big 1-8 this January and it’s celebrating in style with an exhibition of all things engineering in the Great Hall at Alexandra Palace.

OK, that might not sound incredibly riveting but hear us out…

There will be LEGO! Lots of LEGO! From January 17-19 you can see LEGO models of Tintin’s Rocket to the Moon, Dr Who and American submarine USS Pampanito made from over 10,000 bricks. There’ll also be a Robot Wars area where you can have a go at doing some construction yourself. Now we have your interest!

The show covers everything from traditional engineering (think steam locomotives and traction engines) to modern toys and gadgets like trucks, boats, and aeroplanes, and includes demonstrations and hands on exhibits.

London Model Engineering Exhibition runs from January 17-19 2014 at Alexandra Palace. Tickets are cheaper if bought online before January 14.
