Jay and Silent Bob

Every week we keep you up to date with the biggest and best shows going on sale on Friday morning. This week: everything from stoner-comedy icons Jay & Silent Bob to a special David Lynch soundtrack concert at the Barbican. As always, head over to our weekly ‘just announced’ page for lots more.

Cult director Kevin Smith (‘Clerks’) and actor buddy Jason Mewes (err, ‘Clerks’) are touring the UK recording their hugely popular ‘Hollywood Babble-On’ podcast, along with Ralph Garman. But this London date has an added special treat: a UK exclusive screening of ‘Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie!’, plus a Q&A with the stoner-comedy heroes. Bring a sleeping bag, these shows tend to babble on for hours…

Jack Johnson

Hawaiian surfer and singer-songwriter Johnson catches a wave to London tonight to perform his wistful, gentle ditties about taking life easy, getting in tune with nature, hooking up, getting dumped and making banana pancakes.

Tyondai Braxton

The former Battles man, now carving an innovative solo path, brings his Hive project to the UK for the first time. Combining architectural installation, a light show and a musical performance, Hive involves five musicians performing percussive electronic pieces in a specially designed pod. It’s had rave reviews in New York and Sydney, so this first London performance is an exciting prospect.

Following the release of her awesome debut album ‘No Mythologies to Follow’, the young Danish singer brings her seductive sound – a string of shimmering synths and erratic beats, plus vocals to rival Lana Del Rey’s – to the capital.

David Lynch

Members of Villagers, Savages and Stealing Sheep, among others, reinterpret some of the music of David Lynch’s films – everything from the retro rock ’n’ roll songs used in ‘Mulholland Drive’ and ‘Blue Velvet’ to Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’ collaborations with Angelo Badalamenti.

Conor Oberst

The divisive Bright Eyes main man steps out solo, with a set that’ll lean heavily on his new album ‘Upside-Down Mountain’. He cloaks clever lyrics in sweet wooziness and stripped-back, piano warmth, but can also kick it with gritty, kick-ass rock and occasional acoustic interludes.

Violet Femmes

After breaking up, reuniting and then sacking their drummer, the folk-punk pioneers have made it over to the UK to bust out their hits to an appreciative crowd. Let’s hope they can play nice for long enough to make it through the set.
