Roll up, roll up, take a trip to the Fairground in Haggerston

Banish all thoughts of vomit-inducing rides and candy floss – an altogether different type of fairground is coming to Haggerston on April 12 for ten weeks. In typical east London style, the founder of Street Feast Dominic Cools-Lartigue has taken over an old run-down building and is transforming it in to a hub of food, booze, dancing and cultural shenanigans. We went down last night to take a peek at the space and although it still looked pretty bare, the plans for the three floors sound pretty darn exciting.

Want dancing and fun times?
Head to the ‘Fairground Live’ event space on level one for DJs, bands and takeovers including including Dalston cool cats WAH! Nails, hip fitness folk Run Dem Crew and Field Day.

Want some culture?
Level two is the one for you. The ‘Grandaad Lounge’ will be welcoming local creative types for workshops, talks, masterclasses and interviews. We’ve heard hush-hush rumours of some big names planning to come down so we’ll keep you posted (as soon as we’re allowed).

Climb up to level three for the ‘Fairground Diner’. These Street Feast peeps know a thing or two about food so expect an impressive line-up of chefs and restaurants taking up residency in the kitchen to feed you day and night. There will also be street food stalls including Yum Bun and Baba G on the other levels to keep you fed and happy.

If the line-up for their first weekend is anything to go by (Thai food from Busaba Eathai, Shangri-La field vibez from Love Bullets, talks from the English Disco Lovers and silent cinema screenings), we’re in for a treat over the next few months. Plus, anywhere that we can go dancing until 3am and then return for breakfast and Bloody Marys the next morning is okay by us.
