The ultimate marriage of film and food can be found at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, from May 3 with the return of Edible Cinema. This time, they’ve upped their game (and the number of seats available) for these exciting screenings, with Baz Luhrmann’s ‘William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet‘ the latest classic tale to get the Edible treatment.
Using texture, taste and aroma, a new bite-sized menu has been concocted to accompany the film, including a mini vial of ‘poison’ to knock back as the film reaches its climax. Don’t fret though, if past offerings are anything to go by, it should be delicious. ‘When Harry Met Sally’ saw a very special cocktail served up for that scene, and at ‘Some Like it Hot’, champagne kisses were dished out.
Tickets cost a hefty £37, and it’s unlikely to include the taste of Leo’s sweet kiss lingering on your lips, but Bombay Sapphire are sponsoring the event so at least you can drown your sorrows. Stephanie Hartman
