The weekend is coming for you, Londoners, so get ready to grapple with it in style. Hit up one or more of these fine club nights taking place and we guarantee you’ll be dancing yourself into submission in no time. Whether you’re after glitzy disco, down-and-dirty bass, twisted cabaret, tough techno or summery Sunday vibes, it’s all there for the taking.
Sheffield bashment hero Tom Bell swoops in for a XOYO takeover. As well as his carnival dub, mashed-up breaks, grime and hip hop, you can also hear house mangler Ossie, dancehall crew Ward 21, Stylo G and DJ Skrypt.
This cool party nails the best in old and new disco for the bargain price of FREE. Prepare for a treasure chest of disco variations, spliced with house, funk and a refreshingly unpretentious atmosphere. Nu-disco don Daniel Wang pays Zonk a welcome visit tonight, to channel some of his funky goodness through the Bussey Building’s soundsystem. Prepare for a colourful journey of retro-feel disco mastery.
Two party crews known for throwing wild bashes have teamed up for a surreal and subversive night of theatrical antics. Belle Époque and Torture Garden will be transforming the Bloomsbury Ballroom into a fantastical world of crazy costumes, cabaret and sword swallowing, with rip-roaring retro fun to be had at every turn. DJs spin a mix of electro-swing, ballroom blitz and party mash-ups, and the dress code is glamour and fanstasy with a dark circus twist – think ringmasters, showgirls, clowns, animal masks or just straight-up steampunk.
UK techno warrior Blawan is one of the finest and fiercest talents on the underground scene, so a new club night at south London’s Corsica Studios programmed by the man himself is a very enticing prospect for London’s beat-junkies. As you might expect, rip-roaring techno is the order of the day, supplied by both established scene leaders and the brightest rising producers, but there’ll also be some gritty house cuts and tracks pulled from other dark corners of dance music. Get ready for the hard stuff!
A new series of summery and (hopefully) sunny Sunday sessions from Brixton venue Jamm, taking place in the venue’s newly renovated outside area. There’ll be top-name DJs covering everything from hip hop to techno, plus art on display and tasty street food. Brilliant footwork meddler, techno twister and former dubstep producer Addison Groove is the main attraction at the launch with support from house duo Toyboy & Robin.
