£5 or £500 – pay what you want at Fika’s charity meal tonight

Posted at 4:30 pm, August 18, 2014 in Food & Drink

We all like a bargain, but we also like to support a good cause. That’s why the latest offer from Brick Lane’s Swedish eaterie Fika is so appealing. On the third Monday of the month the laid-back bar/restaurant is serving a special evening menu and asking customers to pay what they want for their meal.

The menu includes three kinds of burger (ox cheek with applewood cheddar, salmon steak with dill yoghurt relish, mushroom with goat’s cheese and spinach), though what’s on offer will change each time. But this isn’t just about getting a cheap dinner. The point is that proceeds go to local charity Headway East London which supports survivors of brain injuries.

The restaurant has promised to raise £5,000 for the charity in 2014, so every mouthful – and donation – helps towards that total.
