Our beloved city has risen to the top of the rich list. It’s officially the most expensive city to live and work in, according to a survey by global estate agents Savills. Knocking Hong Kong off the top spot, London’s now almost twice as costly as Sydney and four times as expensive as Rio de Janeiro. Rising property prices (up 18.4 percent in the past year) and the strength of the pound have been cited as the main cause of the soaring cost of living in London. Excuse me government, don’t you think it’s about time you stepped in and put a cap on the rents now? No? Just going to leave it for a few more years until there’s only rich bankers left? Oh, great.
