Half-price fish and chips, pasta-making and gruesome cakes: it’s LondOntheinside’s top tips for October

House of Peroni

October doesn’t have to signal the beginning of TV and settee hibernation until spring arrives. There’s still loads to entertain us in this big old city of ours. Our mates at LondOntheinside tell us about five things they’re most excited about this month.

House of Peroni
Holborn, Oct 2
‘We’ve had some pretty great nights at the House of Peroni and this one looks even bigger and better than ever before with all kinds of stuff going down. Follow our lead and check out the pasta-making or edible cinema – you won’t be disappointed.’

The Lexington, Oct 7
‘This is dreamy pop at its finest! We’ve been fans of this lot for a while now and followed them quite closely. Having recently gained a bass player and a whole batch of new material we’re excited to catch their new live sounds.’

Central St Giles, Oct 10
‘Ramen is all the rage these days and who doesn’t like to suck it up? We’ll be doing just that this new joint, which started life in Japan way back in 1985. We also hear the hirata buns are pretty awesome too.’

Fish & Chip Shop
Islington, Oct 10
‘Things get fishy in the city when Des McDonald opens a second branch of the much loved Fish & Chip Shop. What’s more, if you head down on Oct 8 or 9 before it officially opens, there’s 50 percent off. Don’t say we don’t treat you!’

Miss Cakehead
The Hoxton, Shoreditch, Oct 30-Nov 1
‘We should warn you that the no animals were harmed in the making of Miss Cakehead’s cakes. Once again the creative genius strikes again with a pop-up horror shop filled with gruesome baked goods, like life-size “pigs” dripping with “blood”. Go on, we dare you!’
