Five things to do in your lunch break this week

Posted at 1:00 pm, October 6, 2014 in Fun London

What do you do in your lunch hour? Catch up on life admin? Heat up a posh carton of soup and check your Facebook? WORK?! Time to mix things up a bit. Here are five AWESOME things you can do in your lunch break this week.

MONDAY: Go see ‘floating Covent Garden’

A new installation from Alex Chinneck makes it look like part of Covent Garden’s building is floating in mid-air. Spoiler: it’s not really. Take an unsuspecting colleague and act like the world’s ending when you see it.

TUESDAY: Learn about Space at UCL

Embrace your inner Patrick Moore and head to University College London’s Darwin Building for a free lunchtime lecture. Tuesday’s topic? The amazing exploding supernovae that was discovered in our galaxy in January. Bangin’.

WEDNESDAY: Cheese o’clock

Put down your cheddar and pickle sandwich and pay a visit to Castello’s 132 Commercial Street pop-up shop. Dedicated to all things dairy, visitors can buy cheese, try cheese, learn about cheese and even vote for their favourite cheese.

THURSDAY: Watch the ‘Great British Bake Off’ final

You know you’re going to be too busy living life on Wednesday evening to actually watch this live. Save the show for a Thursday lunchtime treat. You can even play our GBBO game while watching.

FRIDAY: Enjoy London Cocktail Week

If you work in the kind of office where it’s A-OK to sink a bevvie on a Friday lunchtime, grab a few colleagues and head to one of the exciting London Cocktail Week events across the city. You can enjoy £4 tipples at swanky establishments like MASH, or for something quirkier head to The Tipple Taxi in Camden (it’s a pop-up bar in a black cab).
