What’s golden, round and worth more than a grand? Nope, it’s not a flashy wedding ring – it’s the world’s most expensive burger. Formally known as the ‘Glamburger’, the extravagant fast food snack has been invented by Chris Large, the head chef at Chelsea restaurant Honky Tonk.
The meaty treat costs £1,100 and features Canadian lobster, Kobe beef and black truffle brie as well as Iranian saffron, Beluga caviar and a hickory smoked duck egg. Phewf! Most importantly of all, its bun is covered in edible gold leaf because #YOLO.
Chris spent three weeks developing the burger to celebrate the five millionth Groupon food and drink voucher being sold and the site’s users are being offered the chance to win a trip to the west London restaurant to try it. Chris says: ‘After sourcing the best possible ingredients to create this masterpiece, the winner will certainly have a dinner to remember.’ For that price, we’d bloody hope so!
