Here’s a 2015 resolution for all you out-of-London commuters: if your train is delayed then file an official complaint.
A commuter from Colchester managed to knock a whopping £1,090 off the £5,800 cost of his season ticket this year by complaining about delays on more than 60 trains in 2014.
Tom Burridge reported the delays via Greater Anglia’s ‘Delay Repay’ scheme throughout the course of the year and saved up the rail travel vouchers he received before splashing out on his 2015 ticket. A spokesperson for Network Rail said: ‘This passenger is doing the right thing in claiming for his disrupted journeys and we can only apologise that the service has not been as reliable as it should be.’
Meanwhile TfL has announced new fares for 2015. Find out more.
