Show off your ‘Super Mario Kart’ skills at the new MK64 tournament in Peckham.
If you fancy yourself a bit of a super gaming pro, get yourself over to the Aequitas Theatre Company’s first annual MK64 Tournament at Peckham’s Four Quarters gaming bar. The game in question is ‘Mario Kart 64’, where all characters will be fully unlocked. It will follow standard rules and consist of a qualifying round in heats, five knockout rounds and a final at Rainbow Road.
Tickets cost £10 in advance online or £15 on the door, and you’re in with a chance of winning a Nintendo 64 with two controllers and the MK64 game, a first place trophy and a certificate. If you just miss out and get second place you’ll still get a prize, and those coming third and fourth will get themselves a trophy and certificate.
If all that thumb action leaves you thirsty you’ll be able to take advantage of a ten percent discount at the bar before using up your eight quarters (included in the ticket price) to play the arcade games. It’s also a StreetPass event, so bring your Nintendo 3DS and get mingling with your fellow gamers.
There will also be a raffle with tickets costing a bargainous quid each or £5 for a run of six. Raffle prizes up for grabs are pretty decent and include a Dutch N64 with adapter plug, a £30 gift voucher for Retro Game Base (a retro gaming store), and a voucher for a Doctor Who walking tour of London. All money raised from the raffle and ticket sales will be put towards the Aequitas Theatre Company’s next production, which is happening in March.
